Latest News-SASSA Mkhondo Office Reopens Its Doors
The Sassa Office in Mpumalanga (Mkhondo Office), where unauthorized rituals were performed, is back to work. Its Reopen was obvious because the closure was temporary due to an unusual activity in which two senior officials and three unidentified men were caught on camera while performing their acts & traditional prayers on 17 April 2024.
Background
The incident was reported to the senior manager when staff found some residues of needles and other muthi-like substances in the office. As a result, the Mkhondo Office also known as Piet Retief was temporarily closed.
When Will The Mkhondo Office Reopen For Public?
On Sunday Mpumalanga MEC for Social Development Lindiwe Ntshalintshali and executives from the SASSA held a briefing with staff. “Officials have agreed to utilize the services if they still need further counseling,” Says SASSA.
Dr. Hendrietta Bogopane-Zulu, Deputy Minister of Social Development reassured her dedication to offering continuous support to the impacted staff at Mkhondo Office. She said, “As part of continuous support, officials have agreed to utilize the services if [they] still need further counseling.”
The incident is still being investigated by officials to further scrutinize the occurrence and for possible appropriate relief.
“The intervention led the office to be reopened on Monday and the public was informed through various social media channels and stakeholders,”
Although the incident was able to traumatize the staff including officials as well, still SASSA is trying its best to take control of the situation additionally the counseling of staff members including counseling services via an established wellness program, with further counseling available for those who feel the need.
On the occurrence, the SASSA Spokesperson Paseka Letsatsi personally called it “unfortunate finding ourselves in such a situation” & he ensured that certain things were going to be done in terms of cleaning the office so that employees could be able to go back.
Sassa Grant beneficiaries are advised not to worry about the incident anymore because their grants or Sassa Status will not be affected by any mishappening.
