Sassa Beneficiaries March To Limpopo Premier’s Office

From different states of South Africa like Senwabarwana, Limpopo, and Polokwane, and from surrounding areas, many frustrated Sassa beneficiaries protested & demanded a rescind of the decision to close all physical cash pay points in the related provinces.

All they are demanding is “relief” because some elderly & disabled Sassa beneficiaries are suffering a lot to get their money.

Yesterday, the Chairperson of Limpopo Pay-Point Organisation, Mr Noko Motibane announced the march towards Limpopo Premier’s Office.

The Chairperson of Limpopo Pay-Point Organization, Mr Noko Motibane says,

“The demands in our memorandum are, that we asked the Minister of Social Development [Lindiwe Zulu] to call a meeting so that they can resolve the decision they made about the closure of the physical pay point.”

The Sassa Beneficiaries Says,

“The Sassa is failing its duties, we always lose our money and get robbed because we don’t know how to use these ATMs. We are struggling with this closure. Please bring back the physical cash pay points.”

Furthermore, the Sassa beneficiaries don’t have resources and malls, ATMs next to their village, and traveling fairs & fear of being robbed is the real struggle. They used to buy food & stuff at physical pay points directly but now they can’t.

The Limpopo Government Spokesperson, Mr Ndavhe Rmakeula Says,

“We have received the memorandum & sent it to the president & we will inform you about it within seven days”

The elderly people from beneficiaries have been given fourteen working days for the authorities to respond to their memorandum.

Conclusion

This Sassa pay points closure decision on one side is the advancement to meet the requirements in the upcoming era of the world but on the other hand, it is hard enough for Sassa beneficiaries to accept it at this moment, there are multiple reasons for that like lack of traveling resources from their area to nearby ATMs and banks also the older people and the Sassa disability grant holders are at the peak of hardship. Sassa Beneficiaries March & protests are continuing with every passing day.
